Dr. Fred Kaspar investigates these forgotten spa visitors and examines the general social significance of the spa, which also includes aspects of pilgrimage, spiritual relief and a temporary escape from everyday conventions.
Dr. Fred Kaspar, former senior conservator and architectural historian at the Westphalian Office for the Preservation of Monuments of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe, is a proven expert on the cultural and architectural history of spas, on which he has published extensively. The lecture is a cooperation between the Müllheim/Markgräflerland local board of trustees of the German Foundation for Monument Protection and the Markgräfler Museum.
