MUSIC-HALL IS A SOLUTION, a solo electric guitar recital by Fred Morel

... and what if Music-Hall was a solution? The solution?

Fred Morel, guitarist-composer and professor at the CRR, performs an extract from Music-hall is a solution, his solo electric guitar recital, an intimate, intense, soaring, hypnotic and original musical UFO that he performs solo and presents in these terms: "an entertaining musical UFO".

"Music-hall is a solution" is indeed a musical UFO, in which the electric guitar sounds more like a harpsichord or a spinet than a wall of sound and heavy distortion. Fred Morel and his guitar invite listeners on a soaring, meditative musical trip, to lose themselves in the labyrinth of musical eras through a hypnotic, dreamlike shot of supernatural guitar!

The music he has composed for electric guitar creates a certain musical strangeness, a strangeness conducive to dreaming and tripping, evoking like vapors or euphoric fumes both Broadway musicals (entertainments where the dream of total art lurks) and the music of the hippie and acid-tripping rock bands of the 1960s and 1970s (The Byrds, Led Zeppelin or the Velvet Underground...) as well as the sounds of older harpsichord music by Couperin or Scarlatti.
