The exhibition traces the zeitgeist of the Swiss art scene of the 1970s and opens up an associative view of it.
A spirit of optimism was in the air: the Swiss art scene of the 1970s was characterized by a love of experimentation, new forms of collaboration and artistic diversity. In this electrifying atmosphere, different styles unfolded side by side on an equal footing. The exhibition traces this zeitgeist and opens up an associative view of it.

Aarau also became a crystallization point for the art scene: artists working in the Ziegelrain studio community found their inspiration far beyond the region in international trends such as Nouveau Réalisme, Pop Art and conceptual approaches. Side by side, they show specific manifestations of these trends on a local and national level.

With works from the collections of Monika Dillier, Anton Egloff, Josef Herzog, Heiner Kielholz, Max Matter, Markus Müller, Jakob Nielsen, Christian Rothacher, Hugo Suter, Ilse Weber
