After being presented at the Musée des beaux-arts de Rennes from June 15 to September 22, 2024, "Aérosol. Une histoire du graffiti" opens this spring in Nancy, in parallel with the RUN event, Rencontres urbaines de Nancy (April 2-12).
In an immersive, pop scenography evoking the street, the exhibition sheds light on the heritages and cross-fertilizations that have shaped the art of graffiti in France over the past two decades: from the appropriation of public space to convey messages and demands, to the paradoxical relationship with the contemporary art world and the popularization of hip-hop culture. With the help of several hundred objects, tools, works, archives and testimonies collected from the protagonists of French graffiti, it tells a parallel, almost elusive yet fundamental story, reflecting the radical transformations of society.
