Sunday guided tour: Between barricades and parliament: Who was Gustav Rée? on November 16, 11:15 a.m.

Zeichnung von Gustav Rée
This event is available in
German
Gustav Rée was the leading figure of the Offenburg democrats at the time. During his term of office as mayor (1845 - 1849), the town moved into the spotlight of major politics. Thanks in part to his liberal stance, Offenburg became the scene of significant events surrounding the Baden Revolution.

What significance did Gustav Rée and his politics have for the town and its inhabitants? What role did he play for the Baden revolutionaries?
And why did many Offenburg residents derisively call him "Stadtbeglücker" after the failed revolution?

The guided tour on his birthday introduces this important Offenburg personality.
