Reading: Susanne Siegert: Rethinking Thoughts

Our culture of remembrance must change. In her book *Rethinking Remembrance*, Susanne Siegert explains how and why. She advocates for a new, pluralistic approach to remembrance that emphasizes the responsibility of the descendants of the perpetrator generation, rather than our “rehearsed” collective reflection
with the victims. It focuses on lesser-known Nazi crimes, lesser-known places, and previously neglected groups of victims.

At the same time, this book demonstrates how important a more active, diverse culture of remembrance is for reaching future generations even without direct eyewitness accounts.

Susanne Siegert educates the public about the Holocaust on Instagram and TikTok under @keine.erinnerungskultur. The journalist has received numerous awards for her educational work.

This event is presented in cooperation with the Akzente bookstore.
