The persecution and annihilation of Jewish life escalated once again during the November pogroms of 1938. Supporters of the Nazi regime destroyed synagogues, desecrated Jewish cultural heritage, and murdered people of the Jewish faith. In Offenburg, too, the Nazis ran amok and terrorized their fellow citizens in a cruel manner.

What exactly happened in the early morning hours of November 10, 1938? What did the Jewish residents of Offenburg experience on that day and in the days that followed? This short guided tour describes the horrific outbreaks of violence in November 1938 and recounts the consequences for Offenburg’s Jewish residents.
