Pfinzgaumuseum Durlach

The Pfinzgaumuseum is located in the baroque Castle Karlsburg and is well known for its exhibition of the city of Durlach that was independent until 1938. The exhibition invites visitors to embark on a chronological journey of the city's history, displaying works of art, culture, society and everyday-life objects. You can also find a miniature model of KarlsburgCastlefrom before 1689, a model of the city of around 1800, an extensive collection of faiences from Durlach from the late 18th and 19th centuries and various industrial objects that showcase the interesting history of the largest part of the town until today.

The Renaissance wing of the castle, which was unharmed by the fire in 1689, displays unique grave stones. Since April 1996, the historic attic of the Karlsburg with its baroque roof truss from the year 1700 has been home to an exhibition about artisans in Durlach and the history of agriculture. You can find there the workshops of a shoemaker, smith, saddler and rope maker. Detailed information about work processes in agriculture is documented next to the equipment, photos and pictures.
