History and tradition
The House of Local History of Baden-Württemberg focuses on the history of south-west Germany from 1790 until today. More than 1,500 original objects, over 1,000 photos, various stories, films and info points invite visitors to explore the exciting exhibition.

“Democratization and participation” serve as the main focus of the chronological part of the exhibition, which guides visitors up to the present day at the “Museum of the Present”. The adjoining thematic departments focus on the Black Forest, economy and migration, which were important in the history of the region and are closely linked to the chronology. This can be seen best when it comes to the section “Neighbour France” which showcases uniforms of the Franco-German brigades, the bust of Napoleon and a painting of the Russian Campaign.
