The Franziskanermuseum is located in a former monastery of Franciscans dating back to the 13th to 18th Century. The historical-cultural museum focuses on local history from the very beginning until today, offers a folklore collection of the Black Forest (Oskar-Spiegelhalder Collection) and the Celtic burial mound ‘Magdalenenberg'.
The permanent exhibition covers about 7000 years of history over 2,150 square meters. In addition, special exhibitions focus on particular aspects of the collections. Highlights are the medieval tapestry and the largest burial chamber of the Hallstatt age, dating back to 616 BC.
