Special exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary
In 2026, the Franciscan Museum will celebrate its 150th anniversary. This anniversary is an opportunity to look back and take stock, but also to look to the future. As is usual for a birthday party, the title promises many surprises. However, not only exhibits that are otherwise not on display will be "unpacked". The museum team is also unpacking in a figurative sense: It reveals news about the history of the collection, the work in the museum and the diverse objects themselves. The spectrum ranges from the prehistory and early history of the region to the history of the city in modern times. The works of famous Villingen artists such as Hans Kraut and Anton Berin are on display in various themed islands, as well as the first "e-bike", pianos made in Villingen, valuable textiles and more recent acquisitions. Exciting questions are answered: Which people responded to the call for collections in 1876? What items were initially added to the collection? Who worked on building up the collection and researched it?
