With his etchings, Max Klinger ushered in a true renaissance of this technique at the end of the 19th century. He condensed elements of Symbolism and Art Nouveau into his own unmistakable style, which also shows the first echoes of Surrealism. His imaginative graphic series are dedicated to the great themes of life - love, jealousy, passion and death. The presentation features top-class loans from the Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig, which houses the world's most important collection of Klinger's works.
