The small formats of Aargau artist Gabi Fuhrimann (1958-2021) invite you to get closer. The mostly square, geometrically constructed paintings are laid out like a mosaic. The motif is often a woman in the center. The body almost disappears into the color scheme - but not completely. Our proximity to the painting creates an intimate view, like a devotional painting, in which we see the figure reading, dancing, arms outstretched. Any one of us could be this woman: the picture thus also becomes a projection surface or even a mirror.

The Aargauer Kunsthaus collected works while the artist was still alive and is dedicating a collection focus to her.
