The motto of this year's "Heilbronn Cultural Region" is "Strong Women". We are building on this with a trilogy of themed tours that take up different aspects of ancient goddesses and other female figures.

In Homer's "Odyssey", female figures appear in abundance - often in the form of temptations, longings or threats: Many of them want to lead Odysseus astray on his perilous journey or even cause his death. Seeking only to return home to his beloved wife Penelope, the sea monster Scylla or the Sirens appear to him as personified dangers and temptations.
The nymph Calypso symbolizes a paradisiacal place of longing, removed from time, which however becomes a seven-year prison for Odysseus. The role of the sorceress Kirke is completely different: as one of the most important key figures, she initially jeopardizes the mission to return home - but ultimately becomes a decisive help to him.
