Signs and wonders
Ugo Dossi's large-format and colorful tableaus, sculptures, projections and virtual realities (VR) revolve around signs that both point to the world and mean "world". In terms of content, the exhibition "Signs and Wonders" spans an arc from archetypal images from the collective memory of early advanced civilizations to a virtual future in the metaverse. With their reduced language of symbols and images, the works create visual puzzles of particular beauty.
Ugo Dossi (born 1943) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. He lives and works in Munich, Murnau and in his studio in the Italian Dolomites. His works have been shown twice at the Documenta, twice at the Venice Biennale and in numerous international museums.

Viele der Arbeiten sind geprägt von Dossis Faszination für die altägyptische Kunst. Die Ausstellung ist damit auch die perfekte Ergänzung zum Besuch unserer beliebten Sammlungspräsentation Ägypten – Land der Unsterblichkeit und liefert eine zeitgenössische Perspektive. Eine kleine Auswahl seiner Werke wird auch neben den altägyptischen Originalen im Museum Weltkulturen gezeigt.
