Topographies, whether in the form of mountain images or concrete landscapes and places in his home regions of the Black Forest and Alsace, form an essential theme in Steve Luxembourg's work.
For the first time, the artist, who lives in Kandern, will present the new photographic series Passage, Aus der Herde (2025/26) and Val (2024/25) at the Markgräfler Museum, in which he highlights and stages the scenic, agrarian and spiritual elements of this region - freed from our usual standardized ways of seeing. The unifying element is the return, which invites us to observe carefully, to trace the secrets of the local, to examine our own biography and the ambivalence of "home".
Steve Luxembourg, born in 1993 in Rheinfelden/Baden, studied fine art at the Braunschweig University of Art and the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris. He has won prizes in several artistic photography competitions and has recently had exhibitions at venues including the Städtische Galerie Braunschweig and the Heimat- und Keramikmuseum Kandern.
