This lecture uses old and new archaeological sites to shed light on aspects of change and continuity in an extremely exciting epoch in the southern Upper Rhine region.
Dr. Felix Fleischer studied prehistory and early history, ancient history and biology at the Universities of Bayreuth and Kiel, among others, and completed his doctorate at the University of Leipzig in 2007 with a thesis on settlement archaeology at Mont Beuvray and the excavations at the Oppidum Bibracte. Until 2024, he worked at the Archéologie Alsace in Sélestat, most recently as head of the Prehistory Department; since 2024, Dr. Fleischer has been a specialist in pre-Roman metal ages at the Baden-Württemberg State Office for the Preservation of Monuments.
