The Cute One Strikes Back
“So cute!”: that’s an expression that’s sure to pop up in our daily lives, whether used to describe a baby’s rosy cheeks or a small animal’s fluffy fur.

The exhibition “So Cute! The Revenge of Cute” explores this concept, which straddles the line between the pretty and the sentimental: why and how does “cute” become a refuge when everything is going wrong, and a way to re-enchant a world that is today anything but cute?

An interdisciplinary and multifaceted project, the exhibition raises questions about our times while taking visitors on a sensory, emotional, and playful journey that invites them to let go. Through a journey that spans several centuries of art history and explores various techniques, the exhibition invites the public to encounter a wide range of artistic expressions (painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, installation, and video).

This exhibition was developed in partnership with the Louvre-Lens Museum.
