In the collections of the Mobilier national
To further explore the artistic theme of power chosen for the 2025 edition of the Saint-Dié-des-Vosges International Geography Festival, what could be more appropriate than to evoke the Mobilier national, whose primary mission is to decorate and furnish France's places of power? In association with the national carpet and tapestry factories of Les Gobelins, Beauvais and La Savonnerie, and the lace workshops of Alençon and Le Puy-en-Velay, the Mobilier National embodies a center for contemporary creation in the field of art and design, as well as for the transmission of traditional know-how linked to the restoration of furniture and textiles.
For the first section of this exhibition, we have chosen textile works all illustrating the theme of geography, in a nod to the Deodati festival. In the second section, two furnishings from different periods are reconstituted: the study of Vincent Auriol, President of the Republic between 1947 and 1954, at the Château de Rambouillet; and the office of Jack Lang, Minister of Culture between 1981 and 1986, at the Ministry on rue de Valois in Paris.
Ces ameublements témoignent tous deux de commandes à des créateurs contemporains, illustrant le lien entre politique et design et le rôle régulier de la commande publique au profit de la création et des savoir-faire français.
