Marie Ellenrieder was one of the most successful female artists of the 19th century—she was the first female painter ever admitted to the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Thanks to her great talent, the artist from Konstanz rose to become court painter to the House of Baden. The special exhibition features representative works from all phases of her career, mostly from the Augustinermuseum’s Graphic Arts Collection, supplemented by loans from the Städtische Wessenberg-Galerie in Konstanz. It is being organized in cooperation with the Institute of Art History at the University of Freiburg.
