The Lotte Hofmann Textile Art Prize will be awarded again this year. The prize’s namesake and founder, who has recently returned to the public eye, established the foundation in the early 1980s with the goal of promoting textile art in Germany and honoring the work of outstanding textile artists. Thanks to a generous donation from Dr. Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller, the foundation’s website has been relaunched.
The prize money for this year’s competition was provided by the Hanns A. Pielenz Foundation. The grand prize is endowed with 3,000 euros and is supplemented by two encouragement awards of 500 euros each for emerging artists under the age of 35.
Twenty-three artists were selected for the exhibition at the Max Berk Textile Collection. The three prize winners are invited to exhibit several works; their names will not be announced until the opening on October 18.
The exhibition offers a highly interesting range of techniques, materials, and artistic expressions and reflects current trends in textile art in Germany.
