"LEGAL - ILLEGAL: Graffiti, Murals & Street Art" shows the development of graffiti and street art in the border triangle. Photographer Martin Schulte-Kellinghaus documents the transformation of this art form with a selection of images - from its rebellious beginnings in the 1980s to today's murals and urban art projects.
The exhibition focuses on how graffiti went from an illegal act to a recognized art form and provides an insight into the various facets of this art: from the first graffiti in Zurich and Basel to current projects in Mannheim and Lörrach. Historical references, such as ancient graffiti and frescoes, are also included.
A varied supporting program with lectures, spray workshops and interactive activities invites visitors to discover the art form for themselves.
