Nevin Aladag, State Prize for Fine Arts Baden-Württemberg 2025
The multifaceted work of Stuttgart-born artist Nevin Aladağ is internationally renowned and has been presented and awarded many times in exhibitions.

In 2025, the sculptor, installation and performance artist, who grew up in Stuttgart, was awarded the State Prize for Fine Arts by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts. The prizewinner's exhibition at the Hans-Thoma-Kunstmuseum Bernau shows around 15 large-format works that are characteristic of her work to date: from the carpet collages in the Social Fabric series to the sculptural works Pattern Kinship and Macramé and Raise the Roof, a performance that caused a sensation at the 2017 Venice Biennale. This can now be seen as a video work and is complemented by the works created during the performance. In all media and forms of expression, it deals in a playful and complex way with questions of culturally shaped identity, diversity and belonging, which can be discovered in a new context in a place as steeped in tradition as Bernau.
