On the 150th anniversary of Thomas Mann's birth, the Tübingen author Kurt Oesterle traces Thomas Mann's path from being apolitical to becoming an advocate of democracy in his essay "Long live the Republic! How Thomas Mann became an important advocate of democracy and what we can learn from him today", traces Thomas Mann's path from apolitical to an advocate of democracy. He
discovers numerous important texts by Mann that are highly topical again today.
He will also be in conversation with former SWR cultural editor Gerwig Epkes.
