Guided tours behind the scenes: Raw materials for the energy transition

Führungen hinter die Kulissen: Rohstoffe für die Energiewende
This event is available in
German
The guided tour with Malte Junge, Head of Earth Sciences, shows what minerals are used in wind turbines, solar cells and batteries.
What raw materials are needed for a wind turbine to generate electricity or for a solar cell to convert sunlight into energy? What is in a battery - and where do these materials come from? This tour shows the variety of minerals and raw materials needed to make renewable energies work. It provides insights into the extraction and processing of these resources and sheds light on which mineral resources may also be hidden underground in Switzerland. Discover how closely the energy transition is linked to the world of geology - and the challenges and opportunities it presents.

Regular museum admission. Wednesday evening tours also include free admission for a date of your choice.
