Where would society be without Mahatma Gandhi and his philosophy of peaceful protest? Where would the world be today without Martin Luther King and his fight against racial discrimination? It would certainly be a different one, far less democratic than we know it today...

At the center of this exhibition is the oil painting "33 Democrats". Inspired by Raphael's famous Renaissance fresco "The School of Athens", the work by contemporary artist Catharina Chietti depicts 33 women and men who have rendered outstanding services to the development and preservation of democracy, human rights and peace.
and peace. They include freedom fighters, visionary philosophers, scientists, humanitarian role models and courageous journalists - world-famous and lesser-known personalities, people whose impact dates back many decades and those who are currently shaping world events.

The vernissage will take place on Thursday, April 30, at 6 pm in the Salmen.
