What if photography were no longer just a way of looking, but a way of rethinking the world?
"Structures en dérive", nine artists with photographic and transdisciplinary practices who make the image a space for movement, doubt and experimentation.

Janik Bürgin lives and works in Basel. He trained as a photographer at the Schule für Gestaltung (School of Applied Arts) in Zurich from 2017 to 2020. Since the beginning of his artistic activity, he has been interested in the dialogue between photography and painting. A field of tension that he has explored intensively. The idea of creating something that only partially exists in reality - or of transposing perceived reality into a new context through artistic means - fascinated him deeply. His interest was never in simple reproduction, but in the displacement of perception: images that oscillate between visibility and imagination. In a visually oversaturated world, where we can scarcely believe what we see or what is presented to us as reality, Bürgin sees his work as an attempt to give space to slowing down and not knowing - as a silent counterform to the constant flood of images and information.
