During this workshop, you'll be invited to understand the optical principles of the Camera obscura, experiment on your own and create unique images under the guidance of the artist. Part scientific approach, part artistic approach, this workshop is a fun and creative way to discover the world of photography, accessible to all.

Whether you're curious, a photography enthusiast or simply looking for an original experience, this workshop will give you a new perspective on perception and images.

A unique opportunity to learn, experiment and marvel at the simplicity and poetry of this age-old device.

About the artist:
Julian Salinas lives and works in Dornach/SO and Münchenstein/BL. After training as a photographer and studying photography at the Basel School of Applied Arts, he held various assistant positions in Switzerland and abroad. Since 1995, he has been producing photographic and video works (in addition to selected commercial works) for exhibitions and publications. Since 2013, he has been teaching architectural photography at the FHNW Institute of Architecture. Salinas is a member of the Haus Oslo Ateliers cooperative, Dreispitz Basel. He has received numerous awards and projects in the fields of art and architecture.
For the Fondation Fernet-Branca, Salinas designed an intervention based on the historic technique of the camera obscura. In a world marked by digital images and visual overload, this project is a deliberate signal in favor of slowing down and paying attention. It creates a space of silence and contemplation, a place where perception becomes a physical and sensory experience. At the Foundation, the camera obscura is placed in a contemporary context: as a bridge between tradition and the present, between collective experience and individual reflection. The exhibition makes visible the link between the outside world and inner experience, and offers visitors the chance to see the world - and themselves - from an unusual and transformed angle. The experimental installation is complemented by other works by the artist that explore the processes of visualization and decomposition in photographic material.
