Concert with Agata Michalec Stahl (violin), Milena Kowarik (cello), Hristo Kazakov (piano) and Brigitte Kowarik (voice)

Bohuslav Martinů (1890-1959) was a Czech composer who lived with his patron Paul Sacher in Pratteln for the last years of his life until his death in 1959 and was allowed to work in the Basel region. His unique style is a reflection of his time and combines a longing for his Bohemian homeland, a new tonality and jazzy rhythms to create an unmistakable sound experience. The program is dedicated to his life, most of which he spent in exile, narrated and interwoven with music from the respective periods of his life.

"Poco Allegro" from Bergerettes for violin, cello and piano (1939), "Pohádka" and "Loutkové divadlo" from Loutky (Marionettes), "Preludium" from Duo for cello and violin no. 1 (1927), "Allegro moderato" from Piano Trio no. 1 (1930), "Poco allegro" from Cello Sonata No. 1 (1939), "Poco Andante" from Cello Sonata No. 3 (1952), "Adagio" from Duo for Cello and Violin No. 2 (1958), From the Variations on a Slovakian Theme (1959), "Allegro moderato" from Piano Trio in C major (1951)
