The guild house "Zum Riesen" was a meeting place for locksmiths, barbers, wainwrights and carpenters, among others, to formulate and protect their common interests. What other functions did guilds take on? Which traditions and values have survived the centuries and are still considered "befitting" today?
Angelika Lais gives a guided tour of the museum and reports on the guild system in medieval Neuchâtel.
