Städtische Galerie Villa Streccius
The former residence of the royal notary Heinrich Streccius, planned in 1892 by the Karlsruhe architect Prof. Ludwig Levy, is a prime example of upper middle-class private architecture of the Wilhelminian period. In 1935 it came into the possession of the city of Landau. After various uses, an art exhibition was presented in the villa for the first time in July 1957. Since 1960, exhibitions of contemporary art have been held regularly. Three exhibitions per year are organized by the municipal cultural office , another three exhibitions are organized by the "Kunstverein Villa Streccius".
The "Kunstverein Villa Streccius" in Landau in der Pfalz, founded in 1980, sees itself as a contact and mediator for art, artists, and plans its projects independently, sometimes in cooperation with other associations and institutions. In group exhibitions on changing themes and art directions, the art association reflects the whole diversity of current art in the region, nationwide and in neighboring countries.
