A former shoe factory, where once shoes were produced, is home to the interesting history of shoemakers. The museum highlights the unique aspects of the region by focusing on the shoe industry. The exhibition demonstrates the shoe industry's importance for the people.

The ‘Deutsche Schuhmuseum Hauenstein' invites visitors to browse through 2,500 sq.m. of exhibition space on four floors and to find out about the lives of both workers and company owners. Professions and production methods adapted to new needs over the course of several generations. Various exhibits, documents and pictures in an event-oriented museum concept show how the industry changed.

In addition, the museum hosts the ‘Ernst-Tillmann-Collection' with shoes from the old and new world: 3,300 pairs of shoes from 2,000 years! You can also find the largest VIP-shoe collection!
