Malbrouck Castle in Manderen is a “Moselle Passion” highlight of the Conseil Général of Moselle. Formerly known as “Meinsberg Castle”, it was built in the early 15th century by the knight Arnold VI of Sierck who was an ally of the Duke of Lorraine. Several events over the course of centuries were of formative importance for the castle. In 1705, for example, it was occupied by the Duke of Marlborough during the War of Spanish Succession. In 1998 it was opened for the public under the name of “Malbrouck Castle” after the French government had taken on it as historical renovation construction site. The castle invites visitors to enjoy several historical and architectonical highlights. In addition, numerous artistic and cultural events mark the castle's annual cultural calendar: special exhibitions, such as the Ousmane Sow (2004), Dragons (2005, Niki de Saint-Phalle (2010) or “Brassens” in 1013.
