The reopening of the Museum Langmatt will also see the continuation of the «Raumfahrt» (Space Travel) exhibition series, which has been showing young Swiss contemporary art in the museum's basement since 2017. A new room will be added in 2026: instead of the former laundry room, which will once again serve as a studio for art education, the adjoining drying room will now be used as an exhibition space. It was refurbished for the presentation of contemporary art as part of the overall renovation and houses a historical air circulation system to dry the laundry.
With Nefeli Chrysa Avgeris (*1993, Basel), Paula Santomé (*1994, Spain) and Sina Schöpf (*1994, Bern), the eighth edition of «Raumfahrt» presents three artistic positions that deal with intimacy. A fundamental human need that is both more present and more difficult to grasp in a digitalized, individualized society. More and more is being shared via digital channels and private matters are moving into a (semi-)public space. This evokes different reactions: a longing for retreat, criticism of the loss of physical presence, new forms of relationships and ideas of closeness.

The exhibition shows how intimacy is lived, negotiated and made visible in many different ways today - as something plural, fragile and deeply human.
