The Regionale unfolds in the Dreiländereck, where Switzerland, France, and Germany meet–a region shaped as much by its borders as by the crossings they invite. Each year, the exhibition brings together artistic positions from across this tri-national context, unfolding simultaneously at institutions throughout the region.
For the 27th edition, Kunsthalle Basel presents works by artists from the region alongside works by invited artists based in Bangladesh. This constellation extends the Regionale’s ongoing engagement with questions of proximity, exchange, and belonging, asking what constitutes a region in 2026 and how its contours might be understood beyond geography alone.
The exhibition is curated by Mohamed Almusibli and Diana Campbell, with Yana Kadykova, Ruxmini Reckvana Q Choudhury, and Swilin Haque. This Regionale 27-edition is developed in collaboration with the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, New Delhi, and the Samdani Art Foundation, Dhaka.
