Long, Long Ago! Archaeology in the Ortenau

The exhibition "Long, Long Ago!" shows the archaeology of the region from the Stone Age to the era of the Alemanni, taking into consideration the latest research aspects.

Some hundred new loan objects from the Archaeological Archive of Finds in Baden-Württemberg enhance the exhibition and showcase important individual themes. The tombstone of a Suebi prince, found near Bühl in 2011, is shown in the exhibition for the first time. The stone bears the only inscription found in Baden-Württemberg up to now that allows conclusions about the early Roman administration. Important finds from Offenburg and its surroundings - bronzes, ceramics, jewellery - document the excavation activity of past decades. The exhibition also addresses the issue of research deficits.
