The Museums-PASS-Musées and the Musée Unterlinden are organizing a concert by Patti Smith in Colmar
Press release, 30.10.2025
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, 120 Museum PASS Musée holders were given the opportunity to experience the "Godmother of Punk", Patti Smith, live at a concert in an intimate setting.
When 120 Museum PASS Musées holders and 80 guests from the Musée Unterlinden waited outside the museum at 14:30 on Thursday, they had no idea what to expect. They had registered for an afternoon event at the Musée Unterlinden, with a guided tour of the museum, an aperitif and a "surprise concert". The secret was only revealed once they had taken their seats: Patti Smith, icon of the punk movement, took to the stage together with her daughter Jesse Smith and her guitarist Lenny Kaye.
The Museum PASS Musées regularly organizes an event in one of its 350 member museums about once a month. The events are popular additional offers for holders of a Museums-PASS-Musées - the admission ticket for 350 museums in the German-French-Swiss border region. "We always try to organize great extras for our pass holders - but today we were able to create a truly unique experience," says a delighted Gilles Meyer, Managing Director of Museums-PASS-Musées, who organized the event together with the Musée Unterlinden and Patti Smith's producer Alain Lahana. The opportunity for this very special event at the Musée Unterlinden arose from the singer's admiration for the Isenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald, a masterpiece of German panel painting and a central exhibit of the museum. After her arrival in Colmar, she first viewed the famous altarpiece in private before enchanting the audience for half an hour with her still powerful voice and her songs. She repeatedly found words for political and social issues of the present, which are also reflected in her songs.
The event concluded with bilingual guided tours of the museum and a joint aperitif, during which the participants from Germany, France and Switzerland were able to talk about the extraordinary afternoon and were amazed by what they had experienced.
