On the occasion of a half-day event, we offer you an immersive visit to the Hartmannsweilerkopf, a First World War memorial on the heights of Wattwiller.
The event begins with guided tours in German and French through the trenches of the battlefield, which provides a comprehensive overview of the front lines and tells the harrowing story of the soldiers' lives at this mountain site. The numerous silent testimonies of violent battles contrast with the majestic plain of Alsace that unfolds in the background.
A break at the memorial is followed by a visit to the national monument and the French military cemetery of the Silberloch, as well as the Franco-German Museum of the First World War and its exhibition "Man-eaters. Hell in the Vosges Massif of 1915". Using historical objects and exceptional witness documents, the commented tour offers a conciliatory and multi-perspective reading of Franco-German history.
Walking clothes and shoes are strongly recommended.
