The moated castle of Bucheneck was the fiefdom of various aristocratic families. In 1289 it was the official, Sélestat Episcopal See. In 1793, it was acquired by local citizens as national property. Since 1977 the building has belonged to the city of Soultz which had it restored and refurbished. The museum showcases interesting and diverse collections that grant insight into the history of Soultz.
