Beyond the idea of the contagious undead from cinema and pop culture, the exhibition takes us to Haiti, on the trail of the myth. There, on the fringes of voodoo culture, we find the zombie, an unrepentant criminal condemned by a secret society and doomed to a fate worse than death. This figure has its origins in a complex connection between the religions of sub-Saharan Africa, the cultures of the indigenous people of the Caribbean and the traumas caused by slavery. Discover the history of these little-known beliefs that are still alive today.
The exhibition was curated by the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac in Paris together with voodoo priests from Haiti.
