Xylon Switzerland. 80 years
The Museum Franz Gertsch celebrates 80 years of Xylon Switzerland! The group exhibition provides an insight into the diverse, current work of the members of the Swiss section of the International Association of Woodcutters Xylon.
In 2024, we will be celebrating 80 years of Xylon Switzerland: woodcutters, who first came together in 1944 to form the Swiss Association XYLOS, founded the International Association of Woodcutters XYLON in Zurich in 1953. Today, the Swiss section counts around 50 artists among its members, in whose artistic work relief printing plays an important role and who have a connection to Switzerland. The activities of Xylon Switzerland include group exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad as well as the publication of the Xylon magazine with original woodcuts.
The exhibition, which provides an insight into the diverse, current work of Xylon members, is curated by Anna Wesle and Catharina Vogel.
A publication will be published to mark the anniversary.
