On the upper floor of the Fruchthalle Rastatt, students of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design will present their own artistic works, which were created in dialog with the municipal collection. With the help of photography, video, sound and textile media, new perspectives are opened up, voids are made visible and existing structures are questioned. The focus is on questions of visibility, exclusion and dealing with the absent.
The starting point was a seminar based on artistic research and feminist approaches to the collection. Inspired by Kaja Silverman's idea of the "threshold of the visible world", the students investigated what photographs show - and what they conceal. Their works reflect how meanings are created through viewing, archiving and passing on images.
