Susanne Ackermann’s (*1962) paintings and drawings navigate the realms of abstraction, structure, and perception. In her works, simple forms and gestures give rise to complex pictorial spaces: Overlapping, glazed layers of paint create depth, while precisely placed lines and arcs oscillate between flatness and spatiality. The exhibition “everything always changes” features new large-format paintings and drawings that combine reduction and condensation, planning and openness. Inherent in Ackermann’s slow, process-oriented working method, time itself becomes an integral part of the works—each layer, each line a trace of an ongoing process of thought and perception.
