Saint-Georges church and its metamorphoses
Saint-Georges church in Sélestat from the Middle Ages to the present day
Classic, radiant, flamboyant, Saint-Georges church is a building with many faces. Like the town of Sélestat, this building has stood the test of time, witnessing some of history's most significant and sometimes painful events.
This exhibition takes us back in time, with architectural plans, manuscripts from the parish library, paintings and sculptures. From its medieval origins to the present day, it invites visitors to experience the transformations and restorations undergone by one of the most emblematic buildings in this city of art and history.
The tour also offers the opportunity to discover what lies behind the scaffolding of the restoration works in progress. It's a unique opportunity for visitors to hear from the professionals working on this great sandstone lady.
