“Move!”—one feels like calling out to the works presented in this group exhibition. For all of them are only seemingly in motion. They oscillate, tremble, explode, flow, blur, or fold. At least, that’s how it appears. They form grids, patterns, shifts, dispersions, bundles, leaps, and waves: The works modulate the light, give rise to ecstatic lines, or simulate plasticity. They appear kinetic, even though none of them is actually moving, and all assert their place with confident calm. This art confounds the eye, disrupts balance, suggests rhythms, and encourages viewers to participate in the visual experience.
Over 80 works by nearly 50 international artists from the prestigious Reutlingen Collection of Concrete Art form a sensory journey in this exhibition, ranging from painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, collage, silkscreen, linocut, relief, and wall objects to spatial installations.
An accompanying exhibition catalog will be published by DCV Verlag.
