The first of a series of exhibitions centered on Schwäbisch Gmünd's artist families throughout centuries celebrating the museum's 150th birthday.
The artistic work of the Baumhauer family – grandfather Alois, son Sepp, and granddaughters Monika and Regina Baumhauer – spans an entire century, beginning with impressions of a soldier‘s life in World War I, through striking sculptures from the second half of the 20th century, to the paintings and socio-political positions of the two contemporary artists. In addition to family ties, common themes such as landscape, animals, and the body create connections. However, more or less conscious distinctions can also be observed.
