To mark the bicentennial of the invention of photography, the Musée du Temps celebrates the unique ties that bind photography and memory. Through a selection of works from Besançon’s heritage collections, the exhibition traces the early days of this new medium and its ability, as early as the 19th century, to capture people and places in a changing world. This exhibition is a natural fit for the Musée du Temps, whose collections invite us to reflect on our relationship with time.
By capturing people and places, photography gives visible form to the passage of time. Two centuries after its invention, the approximately one hundred photographs brought together at the Musée du Temps invite us to consider how this medium has changed the way we view, preserve, and pass on memories.
