The focus of the collection is on the thematic focus of mountains and glaciers as a motif in art.
Berge und Gletscher prägen die Schweizer Landschaft und die Kultur des Landes. So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass diesem Motiv in der Kunst grosse Bedeutung zukommt.

Der Sammlungsfokus geht dem thematischen Schwerpunkt auf die Spur: von den Bergbildern Caspar Wolfs über Ingeborg Lüschers Sonnenuntergänge im Gebirge bis zu den Eisberg- und Gletscher-Aufnahmen von Julian Charrière. Der Berg wird heute ebenso als touristische Destination wie als Symbol für den Klimawandel wahrgenommen.

Die Präsentation ist Teil des schweizweiten Ausstellungsprojekts Schau, wie der Gletscher schwindet.
