Kosmos Klee. Fokus: Guido Llinás (1923–2005)

Guido Llinás is an Afro-Cuban artist who settled in Paris in 1963. In Europe, he explored African cultures and the work of artists such as Paul Klee. From the mid-1960s onward, his “Pintura Negra” (“Peinture Noire”) was characterized by black, symbolic brushstrokes. He succeeded in developing a visual language that is both abstract and universally applicable, drawing on the collective memory of European and African cultures.
