With the exhibition "A Journey to Freedom: Capri - Skagen - Monte Verità", the Kunstmuseum Bern sheds light on the phenomenon of artists' colonies in Europe between 1830 and 1930 - and their search for alternative ways of life beyond urban, bourgeois society. Using the two poles north and south as a compass, it presents three selected places of longing and makes it possible to experience the artistic departure into a free, communal and utopian future.
